Celebrating the African-American Spiritual

chorusThe Oakland Bay Area Community Chorus is a multicultural concert choir. The mission of the Oakland Bay Area Community Chorus is to preserve the traditional African American spiritual by ensuring that this important music form continues to be performed with authenticity during a regular concert season.

The OBACC promotes the singing of a varied repertoire of African American music to increase understanding of the relationship of African American music to history and culture.

The OBACC also seeks to promote an understanding of the relationships between singing, the other arts and the academic disciplines outside the arts by encouraging students to sing and attend choir performances and workshops.

The OBACC actively seeks opportunities to form coalitions with Bay Area schools and other institutions to promote this goal.
